Hookbolt is a projectile spell that fires a green shot that resembles a grappling hook. When the projectile expires it produces a small explosion, and pulls you toward itself.
Velocity
The pulling effect is similar to Recoil - imparting an instantaneous change in velocity - but with an arbitrary direction. The distance you are pulled is always the same and is unaffected by speed modifiers, or the distance the bolt is from you upon expiry. Only the relative angle between you and the location of the projectile is used in the calculation.
Since each hook sets your velocity upon death, if multiple hooks expire in the same game frame only the last one to be processed will determine the direction you are pulled in.
Flight
This spell can be used to build travel wands, as an alternative to Teleport Bolt etc., and using the same principle used for recoil-based flight (but, you go forwards instead of backwards).
Since the distance travelled before expiry does not affect the distance pulled, rapid-cast use with Nolla produces a very smooth and controllable form of flight. This is faster in the horizontal plane, and slowest travelling upward against the pull of gravity.
Combat
The explosion effect is weak, comparable to Spark Bolt and capable of digging only through soft materials such as Coal. It also does no damage by default - however with an explosion radius of 2, Hookbolt can be modified with 2 copies of Explosive Projectile to massively boost damage.
The projectile itself adds a small amount of recoil, but the pulling effect is significantly stronger and can be used to counteract recoil from other projectiles if fired in the same direction.
It's overall not recommended for combat as it'll pull you towards your enemy, possibly making it easier for the enemy to hit you. However, it could prove useful if rapidly cast along with Chainsaw or another close range spell, allowing you to close the distance to the enemy.
