These flies appear from seemingly nowhere to swarm around the dead. Since they feast on rotting flesh, they have become a symbol of impurity. Yet their habit of eating decaying flesh helps to return the remains of monsters and other unfortunates to the earth. Many people believe that death leads to a second life, and so there are recipes which use these flies—and the power contained within their bodies—as components.
