Angry Birds Block Quest (known in-development as RovioGameCasual) was an Android exclusive puzzle game by Rovio. The game was released on October 31, 2024 with no prior marketing. The game was alleged to use stolen artwork and generative artificial intelligence visuals in some promotional and in-game art.

The game was originally intended as a successor to Sugar Blast, a previously-released original game Rovio, under the name Jelly Match. At some unknown point in development, the game was reskinned into an Angry Birds title.

On November 1, 2024, news articles began to report on the game's use of generative AI after many Twitter posts discussing the game reached over 1 million views each. The game would include a survey requesting user feedback on the gameplay and player confusion of the concept. On November 11, Rovio had stated that the AI generated assets were simply placeholders. A few days after the announcement on November 27, the game was delisted from the Google Play store.

When playing this game, Rovio will offset the carbon footprint caused by the device’s energy consumption.

Gameplay

In this game, there is a finite amount of several different shapes of polyominos that the player must place down onto a large tiled grid to clear lines, achieving a variety of goals. A line is cleared when the player fully fills out a vertical or horizontal line, breaking or damaging anything on that line. The game's range of goals from destroying a certain amount of blocks or chasing off pigs. The game ends when the player runs out of block refills, in which case they can either pay 900 coins to get extra blocks or restart the level, losing a life in the process. To stave off the block limit, the player can earn extra blocks by clearing lines, which fills up the meter at the bottom of the screen.

文件:QuestPurpB.png Purple Blocks	Smashing blocks is the primary goal of Angry Birds Block Quest, being the most common of the level goals. They are stationary in normal circumstances, and only take one clearing to break permanently
文件:QuestCrates.png Crates	Crates work near identically to the Purple Blocks in most regards. The key difference between the two is that crates can spawn with another object hidden inside of it, be it a Bird or a Pig. Whatever is hidden inside is revealed and released once the crate is smashed, requiring another clearing to be destroyed.
文件:QuestStone.png Stone Blocks	Whenever a line is cleared, the stone block will stop any destruction of objects it's in front of or surrounding, essentially acting as a shield. The player must clear the line a second time to get rid of what the stone block was protecting.
文件:AB Block Quest Yet Another Chuck.png文件:AB Block Quest Another Bomb.png Birds	In spite of there being three different bird types (Red, Chuck, and Bomb), all three act the exact same. When the player clears a line with any of the birds on it, the birds will move to different lines, potentially setting up for line-clearing combos. If three or more birds of the same type are cleared at once, then they will jump into the slingshot on the foreground, allowing the player to launch them at the board, wiping out any blocks within a 3 by 3 radius of where the bird hit.
文件:QuestRocket.png Rocket Box	When destroyed, the rocket box will shoot out rockets across the lines it occupies, clearing anything in it's path. It does not count for any clear requirements.
文件:QuestMagnet.png Magnet Box	This box triggers a gravity effect when cleared, causing all objects on screen to fall to the bottom. If a line is filled during this event, it will clear the line. It does not count for any clear requirements.
文件:AB Block Quest Another Pigs.png Pigs	Pigs act near identical to boxes, serving as another goal the player must clear out to complete the level.
文件:QuestPigStack.png Pig Stack	When cleared, the stack of pigs will fall apart, releasing three regular pigs onto the board to be cleared. The stack itself doesn't count for any clear requirements, but the pigs they drop do.
文件:AB Block Quest King Pig.png Boss Pig	Having his own clear objective, King Pig (Referred to by the game as "Boss Pig"), is a special Pig type. He is the only object in the game to take up more than one space, counting for a 2x2 space, and takes two hits to be cleared.
文件:QuestHeli.png Helipig	Helipigs are very similar in function to Pig Stacks. When cleared, they fly away in a straight line, dropping two regular Pigs before disappearing. They don't count for clear conditions, but the pigs they drop do.

Pink Chest and Currency

Like most modern Angry Birds games, Block Quest features coins as currency. Every ten level clears, the player gets to open a pink chest, containing 900 coins. As of now, the only use for currency is paying for extra blocks upon running out during a level.

Trivia

• Besides Rovio Classics: Angry Birds, this is the first appearance of King Pig in a new game since Angry Birds 2.
• According to game files, Block Quest was planned to be a sequel to another Rovio game titled Sugar Blast, which was originally published by a company called Dark Matter Oy.
• The old Red block seems to be an edited version of a fanmade icon by Fast Icon Design.
