The Geo Thermal Generator is a building that generates 200 MW of Power. It can only be built on a Geyser node. It is unlocked in the M.A.M. under Caterium Research.

Geysers are a unique type of resource node solely used for power generation using Geo Thermal Generators.

Constant power production and priority

The Power generated from the Geo Thermal Generators has priority over all other kinds of power generation. Suppose you have three Geo Thermal Generators for 600 MW, and additional power from Biomass Burners, Coal Generators and/or Fuel Generators. If the total power usage is below 600 MW, then only the Geo Thermal Generators will be providing power, the other power generators will be dormant and will not consume any fuel. This makes the Geo Thermal Generators highly desirable, and it is advised to connect them into the power grid for maximum efficiency.

Each Geo Thermal Generators always produce power at its capacity regardless of power consumption.

Unlock

• Object Scanner: Geyser is unlocked in Caterium Research at M.A.M..
• Completing the research unlocks the ability to build Geo Thermal Generators on top of geysers.

Construction

• Only one Geo Thermal Generator can be built on top of each geyser.
• The Geo Thermal Generator cannot be built on a geyser node which is completely covered by Foundations. If you build Foundations at the geyser node, make sure the node's 'ring' is at least visible on the surface.

Trivia

• There are only 18 valid geyser nodes in the world. The UI for the Geo Thermal Generator is a work in progress, and it cannot be overclocked in the current version. These 18 geysers result in a potential power production of 3.6 GW. There are some other geysers that are visible, but no Geo Thermal Generator can be built on it, so those are not counted.
• Currently the only possible purity for geysers is Normal.
• Most Geysers are concentrated in the northern part of the map.
• Each Geyser shoots out hot steam about every 20 seconds. The engineer is not damaged by this hot steam.
• Most Geysers lack a hitbox and can be walked through.
• Geysers are the only resource node that don't produce any items or liquids, and therefore don't allow the placement of Portable Miners on them.
